Enterobacitracin is a 21-residue, ribosomal synthesized peptide with a total molecular weight near 2.1kDa. There is a 8- residue lariat ring in the N terminal of Enterobacitracin, and the ¦Â hairpin tail (9th-21st amino acid residue) passes through the ring, sterically trapping the tail within the ring which helps the peptide to resistant to strongly denaturing conditions, such as hyperthermia and digestive enzymes.
